5. People always ask why I have so many bikes. I try to explain that each one serves a different purpose. In the winter it rains like you wouldn't believe, and my "rain bike" gets covered, I mean covered, with dirt and grit. Riding in the rain takes a lot of getting used too. One day on the way home from work it was really pouring down and cold. I am freezing and it is late. All I want to do is get home and out of my wet clothes. Well, that was delayed as I got stuck at a railroad crossing for 20 minutes. And to make it worse the train kept moving back and forth, completely going passed the crossing, but not quite far enough to open up the gates. Sucked!
4. The Bush death count banner is still updated weekly. I am sorry but I couldn't find the picture that I took of it. Every week these people put the latest death count of U.S. soldiers and Iraqi people and call it the "Bush Death Count." They loved Bush out here.
3. I am spoiled by how beautiful it is out here in Eugene. It truly has some of the best riding around. Anyone wanting to come get in some good rides should come out here. My favorite is Wolf Creek. It was highlighted this year in Bicycling magazine as one the best rides in Oregon. The blurry picture is one Doug took of me a last year right after I dropped my camera pulling it out of my pocket and broke it.
2. Now beware with this one. It is rated PG-13, so if you don't watch those movies, don't read this. I had class at the U of O one spring Saturday. The weatherman said it was supposed to be a nice day, so I decided to ride my bike there. After class it was a beautiful day. The sun was out and it was really warming up outside. I started on my way home and as I was coming down the road I look over and see these girls were laying out in the grass. I briefly glance over to see one of them lean up and I quickly notice she isn't wearing a top, but has tape x-ed over her girly private parts. I keep pedaling on passed them, but find the Lord really wanted to test me because I get a flat tire. I pull over and flip the bike over to fix the tire. But wait, the story gets better, which leads me to ...
1. As I am fixing my tire with my back to the ladies on the grass a couple of homeless guys are standing right next to me. One is pretty excited as he looks over and sees the females sunbathing. He begins to discuss this with his fellow homeless friend. I won't write what they say, but it was pretty entertaining. So the first fellow decides he wants to go over by them, but needs to use the bathroom first. The man meanders over to the house he is standing by, drops his pants (no shirt on), pulls out his newspaper, and craps into it. He then throws the used newspaper into the bushes of the house. He proceeds to do this a second time, pull up his pants, and head over to the ladies all as I am standing 10 feet from him. The greatest site of '09 by far. It is one of those experiences I will never forget. And to think I would have never seen it had I been driving my car. Gotta love the bike!
